A STORY OF SEPARATION AND LOSS

( lyrics: Marek Arnold, George Andrade )

not a dream, no! she awakes, daylight on the way

touch his pillow, no mistake, he’s gone to stay

last night’s rain reflects the sun, birdsong in the air

flowers open one by one, she doesn’t care

day by day, lost in his eyes, fields of spring long dead

a world too small, he wandered far and in his head

she tried to hold him in her arms with songs and marriage bed

forsaking all for paradise, he ran instead

in empty rooms , he’s left behind, no one hears her cries

cold on cliffsides of her mind, but climbing back

she reads his letter, now resigned, last words drowned in lies

“I had no choice… ’m not unkind….no turning back”

leaves his shadow on the ground, footsteps on the way he’s found

lost in thought, a siren’s song, there is no place like Arirang

PAPILLON

( lyrics: Guy Manning )

How wonderous is this life, it is so unique and rare
With Sun led time, cycling the days and moon at night

Under their watchful eyes we can ebb and we flow
Starting and ending, stop and go
A metamorphosis journey awakes me with a welcome to our World

Before, I was a thought imagined, locked, in mothers dream
Today, I am unleashed and ready, new, under strange stars

And by the wall, growing tall there’s a brace of nectar flowers
All bathed in light, glowing bright to lead us to their prize

Under their watchful eyes we can feed and we grow
Starting and ending, stop and go
A metamorphosis journey will shakes me with its welcome to their World

Before, I was a thought imagined, locked, in mothers dream
Today, I am unleashed and ready, new, under strange stars
And soon, I will be here forever, free, to follow my heart
From there, I will fly high and upward, born, to finally be me

So in the end, round each bend there’s a place for all to be
We stand aligned, so designed and blessed with harmony

Under nurturing eyes we can reap as we sow
Starting and ending, stop and go
A metamorphosis journey compelling me to justify this World

Before, I was a thought imagined, locked, in mothers dream
Today, I am unleashed and ready, new, under strange stars
And soon, I will be here forever, free, to follow my heart
From there, I will fly high and upward, born, to finally be me

BERLIN:2049

( story / lyrics: George Andrade )

scene one: Berlin

I’ve seen so much, I know too much… In the wake of the rumored replicant uprising in Los Angeles, all imports and entries of “Nexus” brand humans, made in the US by the Wallace Corporation, have been nonetheless prohibited. There has also been a surge in “Blade Runner” recruitment and training programs in all of the world’s major cities, especially in Los Angeles, Tokyo, Shanghai, and Paris; New York, London, and Beijing have chosen not to participate, for some reason. Here, in Berlin, we remain the only major city in Western Europe still open to anyone: whether you’ve been bioengineered by your momma or Wallace himself, you’re allowed entry. In 2049 alone, I’ve personally witnessed a surge in the refugee population of all kinds. And here, whether you’re an expat or pirate, mercenary or scoundrel, lover or dreamer, sinner or saint, the one characteristic uniting us all is that technology has outpaced our ability to assimilate and integrate who and what we are into this society we’ve been creating at a rocket pace. There seems to be a world identity crisis. And so like moths to neon, we all flock to Berlin.

scene two: rain will fall 1

hear the rain come pattering down the windows in these walls

hear the rain come pattering  down the voices in these halls

all alone and so far from home with no one who cares

all my lies standing side by side with me worse for wear…they stare and stare

hear the rain come running down all the gutters in the streets

hear the rain  come running down all the people there you meet

rain will fall…draws us to our windows…takes us to the street

rain will fall…Berlin nights deceptive running indiscreet

hear the rain come shadows fall down the blankets in my bed

hear the rain  come shadows fall down the choices in my head

hear the rain come dripping down our fluorescent neighborhoods

hear the rain come dripping down empty doorways where I’ve stood

hear the rain come pattering down the windows in these walls

hear the rain come pattering  down the voices in these halls

all alone and so far from home with no one who cares

all my lies standing side by side with me worse for wear…they stare and stare…

scene three: leave well enough alone

yeah it’s been awhile and-I’m out of style

not-sure of my walk…a little loose with-my talk

and what can I say … he walked away

not-sure of my looks…the little time that-I took

I’ve had my share of dreams or so it has seemed

now I’ve been on my own…I-should take the last train home

and just leave well enough alone

moonlight at my window, remind me of a song

stay here through the darkness home before too long (where I belong)

when all’s said and done, I’m-a table for one

grab a drink from the shelf… undress myself

I’ve had enough of dreams, or so it should seem

now I’ve been on my own, I-will take the last train home

and just leave well enough alone…

scene four: rain will fall 2

hear the rain come pattering down the neon crowds I see

hear the rain come pattering down this cold and cathode sea

all alone and so far from home with no one to care

all my lies sleeping side by side with me… stare for stare, no worse for wear

hear the traffic running down all the rain with souls to keep

hear the people running down all the rain avoiding sleep

rain will fall… draws us to our windows…takes us to the street

rain will fall…Berlin lights reflected…puddled at my feet

hear the rain come falling down all the dreams not meant to be

hear the rain come falling down all the ideas once were me

hear the rain come shadows fall down the men who’ve filled this bed

hear the rain come shadows fall down the women in my head

hear the rain come pattering down the neon crowds I see

hear the rain come pattering down this cold and cathode sea

scene five: reason to lie

He is on his way to sell his memories to be installed

on a black market AI network, technically ending his life

as a human, though he feels everything about him has

already been assimilated by the city, Berlin

sequence 1 – at the station

I see the name I’ve written wet beneath this platform sign

… do I still identify with it…this signature riding the line?

soon then I’ll know your needs

I’ll always be right at the right time

I’ll know what to say each day

and I’ll never have reason to lie

sequence 2 – walking back streets, alleyways, city outskirts

I’ve sold them all my memories, they’re not mine now anyway

I’ve already sold my soul (some say)… nothing left to give away

but soon I’ll know your needs

I’ll always be right at the right time

I’ll know what to say each day

and I’ll never have reason to lie

once so far away I had been a trusted man

I had things to say

once so far away…after doing all I can

she was gone one day…to stay

once so far away I had been a trusted man

then she had her say

once so far away…after doing all she can

I was gone one day…to stay

Berlin…

sequence 3 – arrival at black market lab/server rooms

I’ve been through all the motions… arrived at all the stops

my free will is tailored to me…I’m tired and dated somehow

( Rain / Train Woman )

but now I’ll know your needs — please, help me

I’ll always be right at the right time — I want to subscribe!

I’ll know what to say each day — I need… dreams

and I’ll never have reason to lie — I need a new reason to lie

once so far away… ….. …..

technician: you’re late!

I see the name I’ve written wet beneath the platform sign ……….

………do I still identify with it, that signature riding the line.

the speaker is quieted, he closes his eyes…

the technicians continue their work, quickly.

three months later: Rain / Train Woman

and now I know your needs — connect me

I’ll always be right at the right time — I need help tonight!

I know what to say each day— search your dreams…

I’ll never have reason to lie — I need a new reason to lie

A TIME OF MYSTERY

( lyrics: Marek Arnold / George Andrade )

they say, that once a boy has changed the world

they say – it was a girl who started it all

Is it true? Or is it just you? who but you knows the truth?

(and) does history happen that way?

is that how it happened that day?

and if it did happen that way

among us, who can truly say?

they say, that one-eyed pirates sailed the seas

and they plundered and slaughtered in their ways

Is it true? Or is it just you? who but you knows the truth?

They say, fairies once lived here, among us

They say – that only gods can show the path

Is it true? Or is it just you? Who but you knows the truth?

Look – the world we found is dead

all the questions in our head

still prevent our inner peace

in this time of mystery

come away with me

( lyrics: Hannah Gruschwitz )

I was lost, drowning into the ocean

Salt in my wounds, but no emotion

And there you were, the brightest star I’ve ever seen

Your brightening light made my view clean

You led me far away from misery and pain

So I will never be the same

The same old version of myself that I have made

In times when I was just afraid

Come away with me

I will keep you safe and never let you drown again

Come away with me

Take my light to find the way back to yourself and then…

Don’t watch the clock

Because time now doesn’t matter

Just being here with you together

I’ve reached the beach

Of the Island that I’ve seen

So many times but in my dreams

But now my visions of this life have become real

I’ve nothing left now to conceal

You looked into my eyes a mess until the ground

And now I know that I’ve been found

Come away with me…

I have found.

STAY ( written for Artrockfestival Reichenbach )

( lyrics: Sophie Ioannidis ,Marek Arnold )

Well,  I´m staring out the window, looking into town

it is such a peaceful silence

with a market full of people, not a single face with frown,

it´s a home to generations

a place where souls unite, where we belong, a sound of joy

stars that shines so bright for our last song, come and stay

every single conversation fills your heart with light

where the neighbors know each other

tell me, can you hear the music, every day and every night?

At the living room of progrock…

a place where souls unite, where we belong, a sound of joy

stars that shines so bright for our last song, come and stay

Stay – where a bridge is rising

over vibrant valleys

Stay – where our hearts beat in one tune each day

COLD RUN

( lyrics: Torsten Schomann )

run out of feelings to feel

run out of thoughts still left to think

run out of words left to say

I sit and watch the stars

tears have past, and I no longer care

wasteland all that remains, way inside

the beating of my heart

the cold sweat in my hands

the whispering in my ears

the memories drown my eyes

you took love from my heart

which has been dead for so long

then you pushed me aside

to listen a different song

tears have past, and I no longer care

wasteland all that remains, way inside
